Rules for Materials
You can use any of the following materials for your model, but
no others.
- Strips of MDF board up to 600mm
long with cross-sectional dimensions of6 mm x 4 mm.
- Sheets of paper
- String
- PVC hot melt glue
- Glue stick .
- A Single Square MDF base for
your model. The base must be at least 0.5 cm thick and its sides
must be exactly 25 cm long. It must be left solid. However, you
may drill up to sixteen holes in the base to help fix your model
to it. The diameter of the holes must not be more than 8 mm.
You will be sent the MDF base and 30 strips
of MDF board (each 600 mm long) in the first week of January 2003.
This means that you can design your model and cut the MDF to size
before the challenges on the 10th and 11th March 2003. You are not
allowed start assembling your model until the actual day of the
challenge, when you will be given 4½ hours to construct it.

if you start assembling your model before the day of the challenge. |
On the day of the challenge, you will be provided with the rest
of the materials and equipment to complete you model.
The equipment will be:
· Junior hacksaw
· Scissors
· Hand drill with 8 mm bit
· Glue gun
· Tape measure
· Pencil

main frame of your model.

the floors and frame of your model.

strands, or several strands can be twisted together to make
it thicker.
