shaking-table

The EPSRC shaking-table is a large test facility in the EERC laboratory used for simulating earthquakes.

Scale-models of structures, such as dams, bridges and buildings, can be mounted on the table and tested for earthquakes.

The shaking-table consists of a 3 metre square aluminium platform which can be made to move in any direction by hydraulic-actuators. It can move from side to side, up and down and it can rotate. The actuators are controlled by a computer system
