viscous fluid

A viscous fluid is a liquid that does not flow easily. For example, syrup is a viscous fluid. You will have noticed that it is difficult to get it to flow off a spoon.

When a viscous fluid flows, different parts of the fluid slide over each other creating friction. When it flows through a pipe, friction will also occur between the fluid and the wall of the pipe.
